My son is getting married in England
and then the next day immediately coming to his home in Canada
on his leave with his wife, and we are holding an informal reception
in our home. I am wondering what the wording could be in our invitations,
in order that we ask for money in lieu of gifts, as they won't
be able to take them back to England. I believe the name is 'presentation',
but I just don't know how to word it properly.
Most couples include a wedding list with the invitation detailing
where guests can choose gifts for the couple. However if money
is required instead of gifts then you could word it as follows;
Jack and Jill are travelling back to England
after there stay in Canada. Due to the problems
that may be encountered in carrying back gifts
they would request that money be given in lieu
to enable them to buy gifts in England.
Jack and Jill are saving for their first house,
if you wish to give something towards this
it would be received with many thanks.
