Chimney
Sweeps
Can
you please tell me the reasoning behind the chimney sweep
at the wedding as a sign of good luck?
The
tradition started about 200 years ago when a chimney sweep jumped
in front of the King's horses and carriage which had run out
of control.
The grateful King then proclaimed that all chimney sweeps are
good luck bearers and shortly afterwards began to be invited
to weddings to kiss the bride for luck.
