Q. I am a groom
to be and my civil ceremony and reception takes place in the afternoon.
With regards to wedding attire I was wondering if it wouldn't
be considered too unusual or wrong to wear a formal black tuxedo
more commonly
associated with the evening? The thing is I really don't like
the tailcoats which are commonly associated with morning wear
and weddings.
A1.
I'd always say wear what you want to!
We've had grooms wearing anything from
jeans, leather jacket and cowboy boots, to nehru jackets, to tails,
to lounge suits, to 1920s suits with spats, to tuxedos, to full
military dress, to national costume! If you communicate that to
the other men in the bridal party, they could wear the
same, and so it will look appropriate! Alternatively, if it is
likely to be a very hot day, you might like to consider a lounge
suit or similar for the
ceremony, (as that will be a bit cooler), then change into your
tux for the evening.
Don't worry too much about it... But do discuss
it with your fiance! Enjoy the day!

A2.There are no rules - it is your wedding day. Wear what you
are happy with and feel comfortable in. I am sure you will look
very dashing and handsome! Go for the black tuxedo.
Have a lovely time.

A3.I think that a formal Black Tuxedo is very appropriate for
an afternoon wedding ceremony. Many grooms no longer opt for the
traditional and more formal Morning wear and we are seeing more
and more Tuxedos at weddings. It is your big day so the most important
thing is for you to feel comfortable.
Enjoy your day!.
