Q. Should
the father of the groom wear a tux?
A1. In most cases, the Father of the Bride
will wear the same suits as the Groom, Best Man and Ushers and
this is more likely to be the case
if, as you say, the wedding is formal. However, the decision about
the male outfits really rests with the Groom so he should have
the final say
on this one.

A2. I would suggest that the father of the groom takes a lead
from the groom, and asks him if he has any preference over his
attire. If it is a
formal gathering, and other male guests are wearing tuxedos, then
it would seem appropriate.

A3. If this is a formal wedding, a tuxedo would be appropriate.
If the bridal party are wearing kilts then I suggest the father
of the groom to also wear a kilt.
