The Role and Duties of the Guest

The guest has the best of the wedding. No planning, no worries, few responsibilities.

The duties of the guest are very simple; buy the couple one of the presents from their gift list and turn up to the wedding venue on time. Only one person is allowed to be late for a wedding - and it isn't the guest!

During the ceremony guests should make sure that their children are under control. If the children are likely to misbehave, they should be removed from the ceremony before it starts.

At the reception, guests should not heckle during the speeches. People are unlikely to find even one comment funny; more than one makes the heckler a bore and an irritant. The speeches are being made to celebrate the marriage of two people and not to provide a platform for the hecklers misplaced (half-) wit.

At some point during or after the reception be sure to thank the newlyweds and their parents for inviting you to the day which for them is among the most special of their lives.
