Detox to health

Follow our advice and detoxify your way to health. Follow these tips and our week-long detox programme 2-4 weeks before your wedding day (this will give your skin time to clear up if you have any breakouts), and even for 2-3 days each month before you get married, and you will have clear and smoother skin, glowing eyes and feel energised.

Food
Avoid dairy foods and meat, which are sources of saturated fats, refined sugars such as cakes and biscuits, processed foods such as burgers and pasties, which also have high levels of salt. Focus on fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and lean meat, with health-giving whole-grains and plenty of water for a clean and nutritious diet. When eating out choose grilled fish, vegetarian options with lentils or Japanese for cleansing and energising foods.

Fluids
Both alcohol and caffeine are toxins as well as diuretics, so you're dehydrated and overworking your liver. To flush out the toxins drink at least 2 litres of water each day or try herbal teas such as peppermint, green tea or camomile, or fruit teas, which come in a range of flavours. Freshly squeezed juices are also nutritious with great detoxification properties, but beware of drinking too much as there are more calories in juices than in water so dilute the juice with either cold or hot water for a more refreshing drink. For a more filling alternative try smoothies combining your favourite fruits (smoothie recipes are available on www.slimfit.uk2k.com).

Cellulite
Due to the lack of exercise and increased toxins from caffeine and alcohol your lymphatic system gets blocked, which rids your body of waste, and your circulation slows down causing cellulite. You're not alone - 8 out of 10 women have cellulite - found around your thighs, bottom and stomach. For effective beauty treatments treat yourself to a massage, which involves a plant-extract gel and lymphatic drainage massage to help your body release toxins. Or a wrap, which involves a body scrub and then you're wrapped in a thick electric blanket, inducing perspiration so your body sweats out toxins and releases excess fluids. For a DIY option use a body brush in the shower and then get your partner to give you a massage with a specific detoxifying oil and stroking movements towards the heart.

Skin
After the toxic workout your skin has had ridding your body of its waste by January it looks tired and dull often with spots. First treat yourself to a facial from a professional and get advice on DIY facials and products suitable to your skin. A quick easy and cheap option to waken tired eyes is a slice of cucumber or cold used teabags and lie back for 15 minutes.

Exercise
Without exercise your circulation slows and your energy levels drop, your toxins build up and you will begin to bloat. The only way to give your body a kick start is to get up and exercise - the blood rushing around your body will boost circulation and help to sweat out toxins - any exercise will do as long as you get hot, sweaty and pink in the face. Exercise will help to get rid of cellulite, put a glow in your skin and eyes, and burn off the extra pounds.
